the Companies Act 1929 of the United
Kingdom. Amendments have been made from time
to time in keeping with the development of
Gibraltar as a finance centre.
Finance
Since
Gibraltar enacted the Companies (Taxation
and Concessions) Ordinance, which provided
for special tax treatment for international
business. it has seen the substantial growth
of professional services such as private
banking and captive insurance management.
Today, Gibraltar has an extensive
service-based economy, dominated by
financial services . A large number of
British and international banks have
operations based in Gibraltar, as does many
companies with high tax thresholds such as;
gambling, gaming and betting companies.
